General Update.

Entry Date: 24/03/2010 12:35:48

Just a general update to say that recording of new material is coming along fine.
I am working almost simultaneously on both the instrumental album, and the songs
that I have mentioned in previous updates.I'm still not clear what to make of the songs from a creative point of view,so it should be interesting to see listeners reaction when I put up demos,or release an album of songs.
Also, the Seeping album should start showing up soon on various websites as a digital
download,as oppose to the traditional CD release.I believe it is already available on i-Tunes.

Q & A PART 1.

Entry Date: 09/11/2009 21:07:32

Some recent questions sent in for the Q & A.

Can you describe the typical creative process of composing a piece of music?

It can vary from one piece of music to another.Sometimes I can stumble across something while tinkering about in the studio, and other times it's a more carefully constructed method. The most important thing is that I put a piece of 'me' in the composition, and by saying that I don't mean a trademark sound or anything like that,I mean heart and soul, otherwise it all seems a little pointless.

In your opinion,do you feel writing a song is the same as composing a piece of music?

No,totally different.Obviously lyrics come into play,so that's a whole new concept.
I guess sometimes working on the musical elements of a song are bound to be a little like the composing of an instrumental, but overall I feel that a song and a instrumental composition are two very different entities.

How long does it take you to complete a piece of music?

It varies quite vastly depending on both the arrangement, and my own inspiration.
A simplistic piece may take a lot less time than a more fully arranged piece.
Also sometimes I flit from one piece to another, whilst other times I can be totally absorbed in one composition.

Your music can sometimes sound quite beautiful, and at other times quite menacing and dark. How do you end up composing music with such different moods?

The easy answer is,That's how life sometimes is.

Aside from your instrumental music, will you release any more songs?

Yes.I'm working on a batch of songs at this moment,so I'd like to think they'll be available over the next year or so.
